The Name "Jesus" and the Number 888 (Numerical Value)

The Septuagint (Latin for seventy, abbreviation LXX) is the oldest translation of the Hebrew Bible and into ancient Greek everyday language (Koine). The translation originated around 250 BC and was made by the Hebrews (mainly in Alexandria). Most books were translated until about 100 BC. Important to note: The three Hebrew names "Yehoshua", "Yahoshua" and its short version "Yeshua" (or Yashua) were all translated by the Jews into Greek as "Ιησους" (Iesous). From this the English JESUS is derived. This means concretely that the Jews themselves have translated the name "Jesus" from Hebrew into Greek. So this means concretely that the Jews themselves translated the name "Jesus" from Hebrew into Greek. It was not a pagan or Christian invention, as some self-righteous theologians falsely claim, who want to forbid the pronunciation of the name "Jesus".

Jesus 888, Hebrew and Greek name Jesus 888
Yehoshua, Yeshua and Jesus (888) - different names for the SAME person

The name "Jesus" is unique, because it means "Yah (Yahweh i.e. God) is salvation" and this is additionally strengthened by the numerical value 888 (24x37=8x111=2x444). This important number symbolizes eternity and perfection. It also symbolizes the victory over evil. We do not know of any other person's name that also gives the value 888 in the Greek language. "Iesous" consists of 6 letters. The 6 is the number of man, because Jesus was the Son of Man.

Jn 1:11-12: "He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

The name "Jesus" is even more significant in its expressiveness than "Yahweh", because the latter only means that the God is there and exists; but "Jesus" does not only mean that he exists, but also additionally saves mankind from eternal death. Without Jesus there is no eternal life.

The numerical value of "Jesus Christ" is 2368, whereby the numbers 8, 37 and 296 play a special role as divisors. The 296 is the numerical value of the 7th word of the Bible (earth, or earth land; cf. numerical values in the Old Testament, Link) and is a reference to John chapter 1, which describes the incarnation of the Word of God, which came down from heaven to save us. The number 64 (37x64=2368) is the Hebrew numerical value of Adam and Eve (45+19=64) and the Hebrew ordinal value of Israel (see numerical values in the OT, Link).

Ιησους                     888   37 x 24  =  37 x 8 x 3  =   3 x 296

Χριστος                 1480   37 x 40  =  37 x 8 x 5  =   5 x 296

Ιησους Χριστος    2368   37 x 64  =  37 x 8 x 8  =   8 x 296

The Greek corresponding word for "Lord" (κύριος, kyrios) occurs 722 times in the NT and has the numerical value 800.

κυριος                    800 = κ 20 + υ 400 + ρ 100 + ι 10 + ο 70 + ς 200

Jesus 888, Ιησους Iesous Jesus name, numerical value 888
Ιησους = Iesous = Jesus, numerical value 888

The name "Ιησους" (Iesous = Jesus) has the numerical value 888 and consists of 6 letters. The 6 is the number of man and Jesus was the "Son of Man" who came into the world (Greek kosmos) to save us.

kosmos 600, κόσμος, world, numerical value 600
κοσμος = kosmos = world, numerical value 600

Man was created on the 6th day. The 6 is the number of man. The present home of man is the world, whose Greek name "kosmos" (κόσμος; Strong No. 2889) has the numerical value 600

κυριος Lord kyrios, numerical value 800
κυριος = kyrios = Lord, numerical value 800

The numerical value of the Greek equivalent for the word Lord (κυριος = kyrios) is 800 (100x8=800).

Compare: 888 (111x8=888).

There is another interesting fact, because the Strong number (list of all Greek words) of the name "Iesous" is 2424 (see Link). The 24 is symbolic for the 24 priests or elders in Israel. They had to take turns serving in the temple throughout the year. But during the three feast periods (see Feasts) they all had to appear together in Jerusalem. In the Book of Revelation the 24 elders (Rev 4:4) stand symbolically for the entire church of God from all peoples and nations, who after the Rapture will appear before the throne of God and be spared from the Great Tribulation (more info). Jesus is indeed not just a priest, but the highest priest (high priest) that has ever existed. The number 2424 has as a cross sum (=all numbers are added together) the 12, which points to the 12 tribes of Israel and to the Israeli people from which Jesus came.

The term "Christos" (=Christ) mentioned in the Greek basic text of the New Testament is to be equated with the Hebrew Mashiach (=Messiah; the anointed one). So it means exactly the same thing, namely the king anointed to an office. This is why "Christos" is also mentioned in the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Old Testament. "Christos" has the Strong No. 5547 (see Link). It contains the numbers 5+5=10, which stands for the law (and for the first 5 scrolls of the OT and NT), the number 4 (4 gospels, cardinal points) and the 7 (number of perfection). Together it gives the cross sum 21=3x7 and reminds of the 21 prophetic books of the OT and the 21 epistles (NT) and 21 book names of the NT (see Structure of the Bible).

The Inscription of Pilate on the Cross of Jesus and the 888

Pilate table cross name jesus yeshua
Pilate: The Name of the King of the Jews, Jesus

When Jesus was crucified, Pilate had a tablet made in three languages so that all mankind might know the name of the person whom the world crucified. The names Yehoshua or Yeshua (ישוע ,יהושע ,יהושוע; Hebrew, Aramaic), Jesus (Latin) and Iesous (Ιησους or ΙΗΣΟΥΣ; Greek) were written on the table. It is the 100% same person!

John 19:19-20: "Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” 20 Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek."

The figure above shows the long version of the Hebrew name. It is also conceivable that on Pilate's tablet the short version "Yeshua" was used, which occurs more frequently in the more recent writings of the Old Testament. In any case, all people saw the name of Jesus in three languages and the Latin version is even identical to the English and German spellings. So there is no doubt about what the name of the Son of God was and is: JESUS. In earlier centuries, the Latin letter "I" was used, less "J", which is, however, identical in meaning. The distinction between the letters I and J was first made in the 16th century by French philosophers to make the pronunciation of various words clearer.

So there is no doubt what the name of the Son of God was and is. And there is also no doubt what the Greek numerical value of His name is, and that is in the language in which the New Testament was written, namely 888. Everyone has seen this.

Jesus the Messiah and the 888 in the Old Testament

The name Jesus (ΙΗΣΟΥΣ = Ιησούς = Iesous) has the numerical value 888 in Greek (see caldulation above). This number stands not only for a new beginning and eternity, but also for love and the victory over evil (666; see Link). The 777 (the numerical value for the Hebrew "God, heaven and earth"; Ex 1:1) describes the physical life here on earth (or creation), while the 888 refers to eternal life in the spiritual dimension. So the name Jesus of the NT is far above the OT. While the 777 stands for the perfection of the physical creation, the 888 symbolizes life in the perfect spiritual eternity, where there is no lack of anything and where there is no suffering.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Gen 1:1). The Bible starts in the Hebrew text with 7 words of 2x14=28 (=4x7) letters, the sum of which is 2701 (37x73=2701). 37 and 73 are reflecting numbers and the 12th and 21st prime number respectively. The numerical value for "the earth" (ha-Arez) is 296, i.e. 37x8=296. In the first sentence of the Bible, the Hebrew words "God, the heavens, the earth" add up to 777 (86+395+296=777). So 777 is the Hebrew numerical value for creation. This number stands for the perfect, positive, perfect, peaceful and harmonious creation in God. The first verse of the Bible (read from right to left):

Genesis 1:1 numerical values 777, God heavens earth creation
Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth
Genesis 1:1 numerical values 777 Bible, God heavens earth 777
Genesis 1:1 and the numerical value 777 (God 86 + the heavens 395 + the earth 296)
Jesus 888, god the heavens and eartn 777, Antichrist 666
Numerical values of: Jesus 888; "God, the heavens and the earth" 777; Antichrist 666

However, the 888 is by no means to be referred only to the NT, for there were already numerous references to Jesus, the 888, in the OT.

  • The numerical values for "Almighty God" (El Shadday; Gen 17:1; 28:3; 35:11) and his own definition "I am who I am" ("eh-yeh asher eh-yeh"; Ex 3:14) give the value 888.
  • It is interesting that the Hebrew numerical value for "love" (בהא, ahab; Strong No. 157; Ex 20:6) gives the value 8 (1-5-2). So 888 does not only stand for eternity, but also for "to love, to love and to love again". So there was already a prophetic hint in the OT as to what numerical value the name of the Messiah would have. Jesus was love (agape) in person and He was at the same time the saviour of mankind, who made eternal life possible in the first place. He therefore stands above the 777 (of creation). Through the 888, His name stands symbolically far above all other names, because it symbolizes not only eternity, but also love, salvation (salvation), victory, peace, eternal life and harmony for all time.
  • The name "Moses" and "I am who I am" also add up to 888, which indicates that it was Jesus (the Word of God before the Incarnation) who, through Moses, freed the people of Israel from the sin of Egypt. The Apostle Paul refers to this event when Moses went through the sea, making it clear that the spiritual rock that followed the fathers was Jesus Christ (1Cor 10:1-4).
  • The "God Yahweh" (Yahweh Elohim; Gen 2:4,5,7,8,9,15) is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob ("Elohé Abraham, Elohé Isaac, Elohé Jacob"; Ex 3:6); the words added together add up to 888.
  • In Psalm 19:1, the words "the heavens declare the glory of God" add up to 888, because the heavens indeed declare the glory of Jesus Christ.
  • Malachi 3:6 shows that in the sentence "I, the LORD, do not change" the number 888 appears.
  • Also the unabridged word sequence of Isaiah 7:14 "the virgin shall conceive and bear a son" ("ha-almah ha-rach we-yoledet ben") together with the word "Yahweh" (JHWH, 26) gives the sum 888. The Hebrew texts are read from right to left:

The Israelites have received many indications as to how they can recognize their Messiah, namely not only by the textual content of the Bible and by His words, but also by the numerical values of the names and the letters in the respective sentences. In addition, Jesus performed great miracles; He ruled over the forces of nature, healed the sick, raised the dead, recognized the thoughts of others and rose on the third day. Thus He has shown the whole world that He is the one the prophets pointed to. The "sign of the Messiah" (Link) was fulfilled in a perfect way. Jesus revealed Himself to the Israelites in many ways. Even the famous Rabbi Kadouri revealed the name of the Messiah in his 2006 note, which was a shock to many Israelites. They did not expect this (see Kaduri note).

It gets even more exciting, because there are some verses in the OT that refer to the identification of the coming Messiah. If every 7th letter is added up here, the sum is 888 again.

Isaiah 9:6: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Jesus 888, Isaiah 9:6, name messiah numerical value 888
Isaiah 9:6 - The description of the name of the Messiah gives the numerical value 888

The following table shows the respective Strong numbers, the English translation and the numerical value of each 7th letter. If all 7th letters are added together, the result is the number of the Messiah, which is 888:

Jesus 888, Isaiah 9,6 numerical value every 7th letter number Messiah Jesus name 888
Isaiah 9,6: When the numerical value of each 7th letter is added, the number 888 arises, the numerical value of the name of the Messiah Jesus

The same system is used in the famous words of Isaiah 11:1-3a. Again, the sum of all the 7th letters added together is 888, the number of Jesus, the Messiah:

Isaiah 11:1-3:  "There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. 2 And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. 3 And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord" (ESV).

There is only one name that saves and ensures eternal life

There are not many names that can unlock the door to the Kingdom of God. No, there is only ONE NAME and that is Jesus Christ. Enoch, Abraham, David, Solomon, Peter, Paul and John, they all died. Even Mary, the mother of Jesus, cannot give eternal life to anyone and save him from the second death. Only Jesus alone has paid the death penalty for us and only His name can guarantee us eternal life. Whoever calls other names or even deceased people (which is a great sin) need not be surprised when the demons (the fallen angels) will come to him. Only the name of Jesus Christ is above all other names, because only He is the salvation, healing, security, love and harmony.

  • Acts 4:10-12: "Let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead - by him this man is standing before you well. 11 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men[c] by which we must be saved.”
  • Rom 10:9-13: "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Joel 3:5)."

The Bible makes it clear for all eternity: If you want to have eternal life, call on the name "Jesus" and ask Him for help. It is the only name that can not only cast out demons, but also give peace, security, love and eternal life:
