Latin Bibles - Abbreviations

There were numerous unauthorized Latin translations of the NT, which are summarized under the keyword "Vetus Latina" (facsimiles). The Catholic Church decided to produce a uniform translation to replace all these unauthorized texts. In 382 A.D. the Vulgate of Jerome came out, which was to become the standard text of the churches worldwide for over 1,500 years.

German Bibles - Abbreviations

For several centuries, Germany was "the land of the Bibles" and pioneered the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in printed form. Although the Catholic Church preached Easter Sunday orally, the Catholic Bibles have always included the resurrection of Jesus "on a Sabbath" (or "on a Saturday") in writing. The worldwide book production began in Mainz with the Gutenberg Bible. The first worldwide printed Word of God in a national language was the Mentelin Bible of 1466. There are numerous facsimiles of old and new German Bibles, most of which tell of the resurrection of Jesus "on a Saturday" or "on a Sabbath morning". In the chapter about the Historical Bibles more detailed information about the individual Bibles is given.
